Junior Roadwatch

On Wednesday 25th September 40 children from Years 5 & 6 took part in a the scheme, linked to the School Travel Plan, designed to help with traffic calming by educating drivers on road safety. The pupils had the opportunity to work with local police officers using a speed gun to identify anyone speeding in the area surrounding Westbrook Primary School. Motorists within a certain speed range receive two options: either get a speeding ticket, or get educated by students about road safety.  The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and did successfully identify motorists who were going above the speed limit.  The children were able to educate the motorists and hopefully ensure that they reduce their speed in the future.  Well done to all the children who participated for behaving so sensibly and encouraging motorists to drive carefully.
