What is ELSA?
The Emotional Literacy Support program – Offering emotional support to promote healthy minds at Westbrook Primary school!
ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) have been established to deliver planned programs of support designed to increase the emotional literacy skills of the children and young people with whom they work. This is proactive not reactive work.
The role of an ELSA
- Someone who helps children to learn and practise social and emotional skills
- Someone who helps children to feel valued and listened to
- Someone who advocates for the child in the school
- Someone who advocates for emotional literacy in the school
ELSAs supports children in the following areas
- Emotional Awareness
- Social Skills
- Friendship Skills
- Self-Esteem
- Anger management
