Key Texts
For English, key texts are used as a basis for teaching reading and writing skills. The texts link to other areas of the curriculum, such as science and history, and are chosen for their high quality and pupil appeal. The texts are also linked to pupil expectations for their age and include fiction and non-fiction. The texts also form part of our approach to teaching reading which is called 'Destination Reader' which uses established, highly regarded, authors' texts in order to establish a love of reading. Below are the key texts which inform our teaching.
